If you’re at a loose end this weekend you could do worse than go and see this absolute masterpiece.
At times sad, poignant and a study in humanity I found it an incredibly moving biography of genius, a man forged in testing circumstances.
Thoroughly recommended.

Humphrey Carpenter’s biography of Tolkien is well worth reading, I haven’t checked to see if the film is based on/references it but I shall certainly go and see it.
Saw the trailer of Tolkien at the cinema and have it marked down as one not to miss. Glad you enjoyed it CD.
When is it on please and what channel?
