Is it only erlderly people who watch afternoon television? All i see on the adverts is funeral plans, stair lifts, life insurance policy, chairs to get out of easily, meals on wheels. All aimed at older people. There are some programmes in the afternoon that i like to watch but i dont want to be bombarded with only theses sorts of adverts, if any. Anyone agree with me??

Advertisers target their demographic audience, if that's who's mostly watching, that's who the ads will be aimed at. They wouldn't waste their money trying to sell products to a barely existent audience.

Tis annoying though, I just use the time to make a cuppa
If I'm home my TV is on all the time. I don't pay much attention to adverts though.

When my granddad was alive all he watched was BBC news.
Plus remember there are a lot of carers out there caring for elderly relatives.
I'm retired now and watch more daytime tv than I used to, however I find those adverts really depressing. I'm still relatively young(ish) and am not interested in mobility scooters, stairlifts and the like and my 92 year old neighbour tells me the ads "bl***y get her down" and make her feel old(!)
Just try to ignore them. I have far more dislike for the constant bombardment re cancer. I would challenge anyone to watch commercial TV (or radio or the papers) for an hour and not see the word cancer mentioned.
I don't watch afternoon television, but I have seen these ads.I don't think they are restricted to daytime television.
They can be morbid. Asking people to leave something in their will to certain charities. Wrong.
God.....menopause...mental health....funeral plans....I agree with you gina......it is depressing, BUT so is life now......and particularly AB.

My main complaint is concerning my favourite programme... Judge Rinder......can't we please have at least one episode that isn't dominate by gays......
If you find AB depressing why use it?
ummmm

Because i kid myself that I am offering valuable medical advice.
You often do :-)
Being over 70 and finding myself spending more time in the loo I find the adverts useful, that and making coffee! I do tend to record stuff I want to watch and then I can fast forward the ads.
Where else are the less articulate among us going to get tips on chatting up the fruity neighbour when she pops round to discuss that days post in the conservatory?
I am elderly I don’t watch afternoon television because I have become addicted to Netflix,I don’t come on here as much as I did,to many this might be a good thing, I found that I was becoming angry with one or two ladies on here to the extent it was making me think of ways to get back at them with snide or nasty comments, instead I now enjoy a good program on Netflix.
Jordy.....I know how you feel, but don't let them get away with it......
I miss your posts and points of view.
Nice to see you Jordy, hope you're well.
Day time adverts in my view are sending some people crazy the amount of times they keep repeating them, they should be controlled, they are as bad as a lot of the call centre phone calls that people received.
My friend watches a lot of daytime TV and says there are a lot of ads asking for £3 a month for this, that and the other. I wonder how many people are sucked into those?
The adverts are paying for the programme. I mute the sound. The begging charity appeals are negative - I would not give to that type of appeal. Some are more informative and helpful. About 1%.
You could always record it and then skim out the ads
