Well, I will never watch BGT again. There were some fantastic acts on and the winner was an old man not worthy of the win. Disgusting.

yes far better acts than that pensioner but wow didn't bgt boost him up with more pensioners on the stage and in the audience each carrying a torch and low and behold the *** army turned up in the aisles, then almost smothered in poppies lol what a way to end whats been the worst edition of bgt i've seen,
I would agree inasmuch as the best act did not win but I was so certain he would win I landed a nice little wager!!
Thanks danny, those stats. are very interesting.
BGT will now be dead in the water. I cannot see anyone with talent applying for any future show. The last two winners were appalling. What happened last night was the suggestion that anyone under the age of 89 is without talent.
I don’t mind that the old soldier won – I really enjoyed him singing ‘We’ll meet again’ whenever that was – and I don’t vote in television competitions anyway. I do, however, mind that the show has been dumbed down and now appears to relish predominately the highly-charged emotional and heart-rending, all liberally splattered with seemingly obligatory bouts of frenetic hysteria and unnecessary standing ovations from both the audience and the judges. Unless competitors have a story to touch the heart it appears they have no chance. For the same reasons my days with BGT have gone the same way as my days with the X-Factor – via the ‘off’ switch. I want to be entertained - and tears just don’t do it for me.
It's for the royal variety. I'm sure the queen would rather watch him than many of the younger acts
Smow, I think you are thinking of X Factor with the recording contracts not BGT.
Yes, as I said earlier, Im sure the Queen will love him.
Aww I thought it was lovely that he won, at 89 that is pretty cool! I did want Kojo to win, but they will get that break now, look at Olly Murs, Susan Boyle and many others who have become famous and done well by not winning.
It's a strange quirk of these talent shows that invariably the runners-up prosper better that the winners.
Just watched on youtube last years performance by lost voice guy when the sympathy vote carried him through. I thought it was pretty awful relying on self deprecating jokes.

Last night the tall young magician should have won, at least he has a future and the prize money would have propelled him forward.
I totally agree with you sparklykid....and he got a contract to write a sort of sitcom for radio 4...and that was not good either.
I believe a lot of people don't see BGT for what it is.

People mistakenly believe that this is a 'talent show' - it's not, it's a TV show.

That means, purely and simply, that what pulls in viewing figures, which in turn generates advertisers, is what they want.

The notion that this is a show designed to locate and promote 'talent' is simply missing the point - it's to locate an audience and keep it, and ideally increase it - that's the bottom line, and people who think differently are always doomed to be disappointed.
How Many of you voted??? Did you Chloe55??

How silly of me. Britains got talent does not mean talent.
i don't mind that Colin Thackeray won presumably on a sentimental vote as all the acts in the final have had a showcase and it will probably lead to good things for many of them. As has been said, Susan Boyle did extremely well out of not winning. What did amuse me was Mark's (X) comment that he was pleased to come second to Colin as 'he gave his life for his country'. Er, no. Have a look, he's standing next to you! He fought for his country which is slightly different.
Ah, the Royal Variety Show....usually a variety of royals attend - but not Her Maj.
He joined the services in 1945 when he was 15, so he didn`t fight in WW2. Just thought I`d put that out there :)

I think you did understand my post, and are just being picky, but to be on the safe side -

My point is that the notion of finding 'talent' is absolutely secondary to making an entertaining TV show.

That's why it bears absolutely no resemblence whatsoever to an actual audition looking for actors / dancers / singers, etc. - in those, a large number of potentials don;t even get as far as reaching the microphone, they get rejected for their 'wrong' look before they get to show what they can do, it's far more brutal than BGT makes it look, which, as I said, is because they are making entertaining TV, not actually seeking real 'talent' - which is why the public get to vote with their hearts and emotions, not hard-bitten casting directors with no sympathy whatsoever for damaged egos!
