The Coat Is The Star?

I am seeing a pattern in recent tv dramas - the lead character must stride purposefully in a big overcoat.
I noticed it first in Peaky Blinders, then Taboo, Poldark does it and now it's Gentleman Jack.

I'm tempted to dig out my old RAF great coat :D

Oh yes - Vera is quite the strider in her long mac - is it a Burberry? I know she's recently replaced it with an identical one she found in a charity shop.

Dennis hasn't got the stride, though, more of a soft shoe shuffle these days

Hope Strike comes back - another strider in a coat despite having a peg leg.

Think of the money saved as the filler shots of coats in full flight compete with ad breaks for screen time.

Reminds me of a Star Trek film where Kirk and Scotty travelled to the new Enterprise in what must have been the slowest shuttle ever.
Padded it out though, seemed about 10 minutes.
