He was re-named very early in his carreer.
Steamboat Willie was the first animated cartoon with sincronized sound.
It was a Mickey Mouse cartoon that was interupted by the war, and reopened BBC transmission after WWII.
I think it was the 1950's before animation was commissioned for TV, before that TV would have bought animation made for cinema.
So I'm still not sure who was the first cartoon character on TV.
