It was the accountant Pitruzzo. He had taken Silvana in after her parents died and treated her like a daughter but didn't like it when she grew up and wanted to be independent . The other elderly man (whose name escapes me) who sold jewellery had been her lover before she went off with the antique dealer.
Pitruzzo was also his( the elderly man's) accountant and when she left him he ranted on about it to him.
Pitruzzo was eaten up with jealousy as he was so controlling with Silvana so he did the abductions and arson as red herrings and then killed them. The other man sort of aided and abetted him really by firing him up about it.
