If they use his music then as the law stands he gets paid. It's a daft way to remunerate creators and performers of music, but we're stuck with it.
Wouldn't put me off watching the film. I've read some very good reviews and i could always stick me fingers in me ears when GG is singing.
Apparently it's not very PC, Tora. Therefore the leftard media etc are panning it. The dirty old public, on the other hand, seem to like it.

yeah ken but are you happy to pay GG?
You have to make the distinction between the DM saying it's not well received by some movie fans and it breaking box office records:

Oh, i won't be paying to see the film. I'll wait until i can watch it for free. The fact that 'Paedo Paul' will receive royalties will not affect my decision whether or not to watch the film.
I suppose I'll have to boycott YouTube now, oh well.
Surely the royalties will go to the glitter band most of which are innocent and losing their loyalties ever since
Question Author
J5, no, GG owns the rights to most of their songs.
I'm not sure he'll "make a fortune" out of it. There'll be a one off payment for it's use, but little more. IF it's on the soundtrack album, that's when the royalties will start massing.
I wonder how many of those who are critical of the film have actually been to see it? I wonder how many of those who have, got up and walked out when the GG track was being played? I also wonder just how many of those cinema goers were wearing clothes manufactured by children in sweat shops? Finally, i wonder how many of those who, wearing said clothes, and who have panned the use of the track, consider themselves hypocrites?
A flat fee, and additional royalties when streamed, released on dvd, broadcast on tv. It all adds up.
If one were being cynical you may think - there's no such thing as bad publicity.
You could well be right, Mamya :)
Hmm, I've heard good things about the film. Didn't hear that it contains a Gary Glitter track, though. What a shame ... they probably could have found something equally fitting from an artist who wasn't a paedophile.
I just did a little research and it seems that the Soundtrack album only includes the film's orchestral score, but no other tunes featured in the movie. There's no fortune coming to Glitter.
One source of revenue on the back of the film for Glitter:

Not being a fan of Gary Glitters music or such films, I wouldn't have noticed.
He made £300k in 2013 when his music was sampled in a trailer for a film (Silver Linings Playbook) so he'll make much more from this film.
