The TV and movie companies can make more money out of selling the broadcast rights to their shows separately in each region than they can by selling them on a worldwide basis.
It also enables those selling the rights to get local broadcasting organisations to compete against each other. So, for example, a film distribution company can approach Netflix UK, Amazon UK and Sky TV (who control satellite broadcasting in the UK) to see who'll offer the highest fee for the UK broadcasting rights to a blockbuster movie. In the USA they'll approach a different group of companies, and so on around the world.

I've heard a lot of good things about The Boys, although I'm more familiar with the comic book it's based on, given that it's written by Garth Ennis. Ennis was responsible for one of my all time favourite titles, Preacher (with the late Steve Dillon), which has also been turned into a series.
Back to Being Human. It was so well written, and the original cast had such a great chemistry. I am probably due a rewatch sometime.
