Really good last night I thought. I know some people think Celia is awful, but I read yesterday that Anne Reid who plays her, doesn't want Celia to be 'nice'.
All the parts are so well observed and the acting is first rate. Apparently Sally Wainwright is up for doing a sixth series. Fingers crossed.

to me i find it gets pretty boring with all the little chats about nothing and again its gone into "mumbling mode" ...the first series was the best one, not impressed by this

i have just watched it on catch up, still very good and extremely well written and acted.

I too am disappointed in this series and I think a sixth would be a mistake. There are some lovely scenes which are quite touching but on the whole I think it has had it's day.
In spite of what Anne Reid says I find her endless finding fault rather depressing. And the introduction of Harrison the boy is to me irritating.
I used to really love this series and the acting is excellent I agree but I think it has lost its charm and spark.

Watched the very first series and loved it. Seemed to go downhill after that, or maybe it was just me who got bored. Anyway, never watched any more.

I thought it was excellent last night. Derek Jacobi as Alan is just wonderful. He hardly moves a muscle in his face but implies so much. Celia's face when she found out the kitchen firm had gone bust was hilarious. The kid living in their shed, Caroline & Judith, John dumping himself back on Caroline, Nicola selling the farm, Fred the unwanted guest (by Celia anyway), so many ends to tie up next week, or not ...

all over England people are watching the Celia and the kitchen saga and going "oh been there" We actually paid foer our kitchen on a credit card to safeguard us from that scenario

I agree with Rosie's view, particularly about the boy Harrison- can't believe he would have been there in an earlier series. Used to love it- perhaps I have become a bit jaded with it now!

I found it a tad boring. But the actors are great, doing what they can with this script.
