Why is Ken living in a flat?
why isn't he in the house he shared with Deidre who's now with Samir

Deirdre went to look after her mother who was ill.Things hadn't been good between her and Ken for some time and while she was away Ken started going out with Denise. Deirdre came home and wanted to give their marriage another go. When she found out about Denise however and that Denise was having Ken's baby there was a big bust up and Deirdre asked Ken to leave. That's when he went to live in the flat above the shop. Think I've got it right.

Ken lived in the flat from 1990 - 94. He started his fling with Wendy in 1989 and when Deidre found out he had to move in to the flat.
He didn't take up with Denise until 1994 with Daniel being born in January 95.

Ken moves back to no 1 in 1999 when he and Deidre get back together

Ken never owned the flat. He rented it from Alf, then from Brendan Scott, then from Alf again. When Reg bought it he evicted Ken as he wanted the flat as a store room

The flat that Ken lives in now is not the one above Reg's it is the one above the Kabin, where Reg had his water-bed.

Yes, that's right, Mexican. Reg owned it and booted Ken out so that Deirdre and Samir could stay there when Tracey was in hospital having her transplant. Poor old Ken had to lodge at the Rovers for the duration.

currently number 1 is owned by Mike Baldwin, Deidre met and got married to samir and after Samir was threatenend with deportation decided to sell the house quickly (hence mike buying it) in order to fund her move to morocco, meanwhile Tracey took drugs and came into hospital with an overdose, after a coma and deidre coming back to see her she now needs a kidney transplant. Ken was lodging above the shop until Reg offered him the opportunity to rent his old flat above the kabin so he could use the shop flat for storage. When deidre came back from morocco she found that mike had not sold the house (he had promised to and send her the balance of what he owed in buying if off her) he had let it to Tricia whatshername, so ken offered her and samir his flat to stay in. Following Tracey's recovery, deidre and samir decided moved in with Liz and Jim so tracey could stay with Ken in the flat. Samir was having issues about Ken and deidre's closeness.
