Anyone can go into the countryside, you can drive, walk, cycle, get a bus or train, anyone of any race can visit the countryside.

No wonder more and more people are turning against the bbc.

And we have so many statues to pull down.....
this bull has to go first, as they have been repressed by white farmers.
Gosh, this has been spoken about for a decade at least - is it from a new programme or an old one rehashed during lockdown?
I see, it's a stupid thread.

Keep it.

tonights show Mamyalynne.
Did you watch the relevant segment? It may not change your opinion but I kind of feel like it should matter. What's the actual point being made here?
I do know it has been covered in depth before, I can't fully recall some of the reasons give by some Asian and Black contributors as to why they felt excluded or uncomfortable.

You and I know they shouldn't.
It’s getting beyond silly now Webbs
Another day, another insanity.
They've certainly got a point. Why can't BAME stay in the inner city where they belong?

Well, if you will read stuff on Twitface ...
On my travels north every week I see many, many carloads of Asian looking families standing in the many lay-bys using the Highland scenery as a backdrop for their photos.

No colour bar at Drumochter Pass.
yes its been discussed before on Countryfile. So far as I recall when it was on before it was about a group who were encouraging Asian women in cities in the Midlands to go out to rural places local to them. I am white English and I do know that when I have gone on holiday to places in the UK, I have definitely felt unwelcome....kind of a "give us your money and bog off" attitude. We aren't hooligans or snobs, we take our rubbish home, don't laugh at the locals or speed down country lanes. I could imagine feeling even less welcome if my skin wasn't the right colour.
It's nothing to do with Twitter nor is it new.

I found this an interesting read (From 2009), part humour but not all and though it explains how some see it I can't say it leads me to any clear decision.

Most likely as I am neither Black or Asian.

//many in Black, Asian and minority ethnic groups see the countryside as being a white environment//

Of course they do. After all there is no "countryside" in Africa or Asia. Even less where the "minority effnic groups " come from. Ever likely be a bit..... ooo it's scarey. Mind you in Wales everybody had better watch out if the go upsetting the sheep or trampling the daffs and leeks that grow everywhere.
A black presenter pops up on a BBC programme in the hopes of persuading more BAME people into the British countryside .......and you decide to accuse both the countryside and the BBC of being racist?

How strange....
douglas, yes. We always felt welcome in the borders and in Scotland, less so in Devon and Cornwall. I know people wo are native to the west Country and they too comment on the attitude of some of their countrymen and women to the tourists who provide them them a living.
Likewise North Wales in my own experience
The Mosaic Model is one of a few set up by Natural England in 2013 to address these issues.

Lots of reading on that and other initiatives here.

That's what I remember from Countryside, Mamya, that Mosaic project.
