Impressive that she refused titles for her children so they could enjoy more normal lives. Slightly disjointed ending to this docu. I suspect she had editorial control, which is why everyone was impressed, but she deserves all the credit she gets... and more
The royals live in a surreal world. No one (outside of the privacy of family) disagrees with them. Ann spoke about her headmistress with whom she got along very well, and thought it curious that everyone else was wary of her. Not difficult to see why. The headmistress dare not be anything but acquiescent to Ann. That said, I like her, she's loyal, patriotic, and a hard worker who does her very best, and I congratulate her on raising two very grounded children.
When I was Regimental Photographer during the last 12 months of my army service, my room in Hohne, West Germany, overlooked the Garrison stables and the adjoining practice arena. One afternoon I saw a rider putting a horse through it's paces so I grabbed my Pentax, went outside and began taking photographs. Only for a Regimental Policeman to tell me I couldn't do so. Then this rather plummy voice piped up, "It's okay, let him continue." The plummy voice belonged to Princess Anne. The rider was Capt Mark Phillips. Don't know if he was attached to either of the other 2 British Regiments on the Garrison or whether he was simply using the facilities. Never got to speak to the Princess but was very grateful for her intervention and I got some decent shots for the Regimental monthly magazine.
