I love this film and it is on tomorrow night at 10.30 pm om BBC1. It's funny, it's sad, it's romantic and it's heartbreaking. Tale of a young couple in the 1940's played by Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams but told by James Garner to his wife Gena Rowlands who has dementia and they are both in the same nursing home. Tissues ready for the end of the film. I get teary each time I watch it.

Yes Iluvmargie - you are quite right - schedule does say Notebook - maybe a change of programme or a regional thing as my Radio Times says Quartet which I seem to remember being on very recently. Thank you.
That's ok Rosie. I've set it to record tonight.
I will too after these good recommendations.
Loved it! Thanks for recommending Bakers Dozen

And it made me cry. Not many films have done this!

Glad you enjoyed it. Really gets to you doesn't it. One of my favourites.
Even my OH liked it, but it didn't make him cry!
It is a beautiful film !
Really looking forward to watching it after all these recommendations. Another film well worth watching - A Thousand Splendid Suns. The book is excellent as well.

Thanks iluvmargie. I'll add that one to my watch list. I really enjoy films that are a not just run of the mill and one of my real favourites is one called The Legend of 1900 and I can really recommend it. Tim Roth is the star and the film is about a newborn baby who is abandoned by his mother on a ship crossing the ocean in the year 1900. The crew keep the baby on the ship and secretly raise him in the bowels of the ship. Watched it on the TV late one night a few years ago and wished I'd recorded it. Looked out for it ever since then but never seen it come back on so Mr BD bought it for me as a surprise. Beautiful film.
A brilliant film. I watched it for the first time last night just to keep my wife company really. I have always liked films with James Garner starring in them. I was going to bed after the 10pm News but was glad I watched it to the end.
I noticed that the two main characters were both born in London. Ontario. Canada. Two years apart. Not a lot of people know that! :-)
