Strictly Judges

Anyone else noticed the judges on Strictly, even Craig now, are being overly generous in their praise and scoring? Maybe that’s the BBC telling them to be super-nice in these PC days and not say anything that might be construed as harsh or insensitive. Anyone with knowledge of Latin and ballroom dancing knows much of what they say is bollards, and they’d never say it to professional competitors. As for Anton, having been one of the pro dancers so long, he says every flipping contestant is fabulous for fear of upsetting his old colleagues. Trouble is dishing out 9s and 10s so early in the contest means there’s nowhere to go - in their false opinions, the performances are already perfect...when they definitely are not. Having said that, I’d be glad if Motsi never returns. You?

I agree the scores are overly generous, even Craig. All Anton can manage is ' tremendous', and I'd be glad if I never had to listen to that grating voice of Motsi's. Other than that....

// Having coveted the role for a long time, Anton has found out that it's not as easy as he thought to give an entertaining critique on live television. //
That's it exactly brainiac.
He just doesn't have the skill set. Similarly, I doubt he'd have made a good fist of presenting had he achieved his original goal of replacing Brucie.
He'd be better off in a mentor role behind the scenes I think.

As regards Dave Arch, I've noticed a lot more pre-recorded music being used this series - his band is actually quite small (no strings etc) so they have to rely on tapes.
I've often wondered if the contestants have an accurate version of the 90 seconds of music that they will be dancing to on Saturday for their rehearsals during the week, complete with the ending, which is often sudden, and crucial.
Apc - bad news, I'm afraid: Claudia is taking over Graham Norton's Saturday Radio 2 show.
