I know this has been around for a long time but I've only just given it a try ... and three episodes in I'm loving it. It reminds me of Mad Dogs, the superb 'black comedy' starring Philip Glenister.
I had the box set for my birthday last year, and I was saving it to take to Montreal with me for my twelve days at the Jazz Festival - a little non-music entertainment to decompress each night feels wonderful.
Of course, that was cancelled, so fingers crossed I will be able to take it with me in the summer of 2021 - I hear great things about the series, so I am looking forward to it.
You'll absolutely love the rest of it, Naomi. Though, like me, you will wish here were more seasons to watch. Hope you haven't watched the film El Camino yet. You shouldn't watch that until you have done the entire Breaking Bad series.
You may also end up watching Better Call Saul, a spin off from BB. Also very good.
it's a brilliant series, slow to get going but once you do you'll be binge watching it. After you watch that, watch "Better call Saul" that's brilliant too.
Better Call Saul tells the story of Jimmy McGill's transition into Saul Goodman and is set before Breaking Bad. Even if BB had never been made, BCS would have been a stand out good watch on it's own merit.
Indeed ken, I enjoyed the way it set the scene for a lot of breaking bad but that's only apparent if you've seen BB, it still works on it's own merits.
Is it on Netflix? I think I bought it for son-in-law a few years back so I might have to borrow it back!
When we were in Albuquerque we couldn't fathom all the 'BB' memorabilia having never heard of it, they were horrified but I have a record for those things, I was the same at Portmerion with No. 6 and in New Zealand, didn't know what the LOTR references on maps were. I need to get out more.
I hated it. I was bored senseless. My sister (and the rest of the world) raved about it... so I tried it twice. The first time I gave up by the third episode, the second time I forced myself to the middle of Season 2.... but realised I wasn't enjoying it and was relieved when I decided to give up :-)
I love the way Cranston describes his character: "Mr Chips to scarface in 5 seasons" - wonderful.
pixie i did struggle early on I must admit but after a few episodes I was hooked. What didn't you like?
I'm honestly not sure, ttt. I was just bored with it. Unoriginal... and I didn't relate to the characters, maybe. The second time, I genuinely watched it, no distractions etc... and got nothing out of it at all.
