They probably weren’t famous when at school, but what were they like then?

When I was a school prefect, in charge of the school's two libraries, I had a team of younger boys helping me. One of them was a very cheeky, but very likeable, lad called Nicholas Kershaw. I understand he later went into the music business ;-) If you'll count teaching in Sheffield as 'school days', I was in charge of the city's schoolboy cricket teams, as well as...

The actor James Nesbitt - he was always in the school play :-)

And the guy who ended up lead singer for the Ogdens.
Celebrity central our school was ...

Oh, and the previous governor of Gibraltar ...
I know this appears very sour and it's your choice but why is buenchico's answer better than anyone else's? Is it be because Nick Kershaw is the only one you've heard of?

Hi Prudie. No big reason at all. Just thought his response was fun. I have heard of nearly all so far, and in fact I have met both Neil and Christine Hamilton. Sorry to disappoint you. It’s all rather frivolous anyway. HNY
no one i went to school with, -
Barry Cryer was in my class. A very studious lad who went on to become an MP.
I've just checked on Google.
It seems that no-one of any note went to 'any' of my schools before, during or after my attendance there.

Hardly surprising...
Do you mean Bob Cryer danny?
Not school, but a few years ago I discovered that a former boss of mine in an ad agency has a very long running radio program in NYC.
Jeremy Corbyn - no change.

In 1964 with an impending General Election the school debating society decided to debate Conservative manifesto versus Labour manifesto.

Jeremy took the lead for the Labour side. And lost the debate by some considerable margin....
Jan, Yes of course Bob Cryer
Joanna Lumley in Malaya, I beat her in school swimming galas so she blanked me ;)
Not at school, but a guy who was on the committee of our local Con Club was Mark Bright's estranged dad. When Mark was due to be transferred from Crystal Palace, his dad said he was in talks with rivals Blackburn Rovers. Someone remarked that he would not be welcome in the club if he signed for the 'enemy' and his dad said he would have a word. Mark Bright duly signed for Sheffield Wednesday and his dad said that's what he had advised him to do. Years later, after the man's death, i saw a documentary where Mark Bright and his sister sought out his birth father. In which it transpired that Mark had been abandoned by his dad at a very early age and had not had any contact with him in over 20 years. After meeting his father, Mark said that although the meeting had been brief, he had discovered all he needed to know and that there would be no further meetings.

"Not a lot of people know that" (sqad in his Michael Caine impression)
Did I say "Brian Poole and Patsy Ann Noble (an early Doctor Who assistant)".

I meant Carole Ann Ford! (Have caught Danny's problem. :-) )
Alexie Sayle.
Many years ago ( too many !!) while at what was then "Secondary" school, Martin Amis ( son of Kingsley Amis) was a year below me - he used to arrive at school by taxi !

No-one at school but at university I was a contemporary of Tim Laurence, husband of Princess Anne, and Arthur Bostrom, Officer Crabtree from 'allo 'allo. Our college medical officer was a certain Dr Harold Shipman! Fortunately I had no need of his services.
//Arthur Bostrom, Officer Crabtree from 'allo 'allo.//

Strangely, Jd, Mr Bostrom was in the paper yesterday. He has a flat (in Southampton, I think) which has fallen foul of the "Grenfell" cladding problem.

Good Moaning! :-)
Quite probably, clover... he seemed to know everyone... :-)
