I watch this to be polite, because Mrs Hughes really likes it, but I really can't do with it.
To me, it's far too pleased with itself, contestants, impossible format, even the music!
I do like Victoria Coren-Mitchelll - but I have to click off before her final breathtakingly bad 'amusing' link at the end.
Anyone else feel like that, or are you fans?

Now on that we are agreed!
I don't like axman being sniffy about popular culture, which he is.

You'd have to motivated enough to want to start, but what I'm saying is that you not understanding the questions isn't an argument against the value of those questions being in the show. Instead, if you wanted that to change, better to teach yourself fundamentals of Science.
I'm just as clueless on a lot of the cell biology and chemistry stuff, by the way. But it's better for the show that they are there than not, because it allows people who *do* know that to show their knowledge.

I can't speak for you, but I watch UC for half an hour's entertainment, and light brain stretching, and that's it.
Questions and answers I can't understand vex me, they don't inspire me to explore further - I failed Physics With Chemistry O Level - Grade 9 - I have no interest in revisiting, thank you.

Still have to read the right books, though. And recognising artists by their artworks is a matter either of going through each artist's oeuvre or by learning how to recognise their styles. Ditto Music, if it comes to that.
I don't think it's different enough from Science to be an entirely separate category, at least in the context of a quiz -- if you read the right books there, too, you'd pick up on most of the relevant facts eg definitions of different organelles in a cell, names of parts of the body, names of key amino acids etc.
The only real exceptions are the mathematical calculations asked for, although the usual rule is that the answer is 1 or 0 :P

and I thought
these maff questions made up by bits of socio-fluff
euler was straightforward
Isoleucine - I wdnt say the abbreviations of amino acids are worf remembering - more if it is charged ( dont know ) or can be cross bonded ( no)
good antidote to the standard andie-naomi barney - or today;s wonder, emma-lou adams who I think is an obvious troll
