A small team took part in the "Baddlewat" quiz, but we all got to meet the personalities backstage. Music was provided by a band called The Herd, whose lead singer, Peter Frampton, went on to rather greater things. (he was only 17 at the time). everyone was really good to us, it was a long but fun afternoon.
One of my daughters went on Supermarket Sweep with her friend when Dale Winton was the host, and they won the prize at the end. One of the things they had to do was say 'Dale' when they gave an answer, so when my daughter answered a question about an Eastenders character, she said with a lovely smile, 'Ian Beale, Dale'. Always makes me smile when I think of her doing that.
Been on a few. The only presenter who went to the auditions was William G Stewart, and he was very much what you see on camera, and very kindly told me he thought my questions were really hard. Gordon Burns was also helpful when I went on the Krypton Factor , as I didn't quite understand what the pilot had told me before doing the flight simulator bit. The only presenter who seemed to be roundly disliked by his crew was Bruno Brookes
15-to-1 with William G, Brainteaser (Ch5) with Alex Lovell, Countdown - twice Richard / Carol, Nick / Rachel, Eggheads - Jeremy Vine - haven't won anything! The friendliest were the Eggheads, particularly "Tremendous Knowledge" Dave Rainford and Judith Keppel
A friend was on The Chase and won £5k then got to the final of Mastermind and went to Boston, Mass to make a piece about his topic
I was once part of little remembered early channel 5 show called 5’ company starring 5 hosts each day Nick Knowles & Esther Mcvey being two of them they did a spoof radio show using audience members as the cast members and gave us back stories lol was quite funny especially when my friends were picked out too one was actually given his actual name of mick the pick and old safecracker , and another time Esther Mcvey (yes the now Conservative Politician) she joined me & another member of the audience to introduce the phone in quiz where I got to say the immortal words for these it could be you ,had I not recorded it myself no one I know would have seen it as it started while not everyone had had their VHS players retuned lol , Nick Knowles who has a reputation for the ladies lived up too that as soon as the credits went up if there was an attractive lady I the audience he shot up and started to chat them up , one other memory was comedian Kevin Day came on and had a routine all about Fat people well I was and am very big and was literally 3 feet from him and the fear on his eyes as he bounded on saw me realised his routine but he had to carry on, but lucky for him I did and still do find fat jokes funny so long as not nasty or personally targeted but the whole cast were lovely on the short lived show think the 5’s company was the audience numbers probably more in the studio than at home lol , but there are clips on YouTube not sure if mine are though
