The latest version of Edge, Chrome and Slimjet are all based around the same 'developer-level' browser (which is called Chromium). So they all have certain similarities.
However, since Chrome is a Google product, it tries to tie you to Google's own services and won't, for example, allow you to install an extension to download and save YouTube videos (because YouTube is owned by Google).
Similarly, because Edge is a Microsoft product, it wants you to do everything through Microsoft's own services, such as using Bing as its preferred search engine.
Slimjet is independent and therefore doesn't try to tie you into anything. (You can still use Chrome extensions with it if you want to but without doing everything through Google). It blocks ads by default, meaning that pages load much faster. (Although you can, of course, turn the adblocker off for certain sites if, say, you want to keep AB's beloved Editor happy!). It comes with lots of useful tools, such as a built-in downloader for YouTube videos, but it isn't hard to get to grips with.
If you do decide to give Slimjet a go, you'll find that it opens with various 'useful' bookmarks, etc, pre-loaded but it only takes a few moments to 'tidy it up', so that it meets your individual requirements. (See my post at 2049 here to see how to get Slimjet looking exactly the way you want:
