I love the way that Amanda dresses.
Question Author
She could wear a bin liner and look good ( biatchi) :0)))
I am looking forward to the new series. I love little Clemmy, she is such a star.
I wonder who does the housework, washing, ironing etc while Amanda is tending the sheep.
In the last series Clive had a hip replacement, perhaps Amanda wore him out being 21 years younger than him lol lol
Bobbi -Yes the Owens dont own the land they farm, they Tenant it from Gunnerside Estates. They breed Swaledales and make good money from selling the Rams - I remember one being sold at Hawes a good while back and achieved over £20,000. So I think he could well afford a smart 4X4 without dipping into the wife's handbag so to speak :-)
Agree about Clemmy. She's magic!

Love little Clemmy too , she’s got that lovely inquisitive nature of a child

Thanks for the info APG
I believe they have bought a farm nearby and are using it for holiday letting. So they can pass a farming legacy on to the children.
Sure I read that in one of her books.
I enjoy the series.
They have a shepherds hut on the Tenanted farm, and bought a large farmhouse with a paddock attached a few miles away. They let it out as holiday accommodation.
Question Author
Oh that’s good to know APG, Amanda has definitely an entrepreneurial head on her shoulders
It's not unusual for farmers to be tenants. Adam Henson doesn't own his farmland either
Barry who said it was unusual? most of the farms around here are Tenanted -ours isn't but its small. We have three huge agricultural Estates surrounding our area with hundreds of thousands of acres and many farms that have been in families for generations, all Tenanted.

Its huge -six bedrooms sleeps about 10 people I think. Only downside you need to drive down to Kirby Steven to get a decent phone signal lol!
APG, the fact that Clive and Amanda are tenant farmers has been mentioned on here as if it is an oddity - that's how I read it anyway. Don't see why it had to be mentioned at all
Not on this thread barry.
Question Author
Barry it wasn’t APG who brought it up, I did!

Sounds good to me APG, When we can travel and stay ,there’s a few of us do , last trip was to Berlin but there was around 10 of us rented a converted barn for a long weekend too, there would be ideal
We used to live on a tenanted farm over in the Pendle area in the 40s. I used to take the rent money over to the landlord twice yearly. No running water and electricity only in one room! Enjoyed our time there.
Just caught the back end of last nights episode and what a load of ***** . Firstly, I saw them cutting a pasture with very little grass on it, not a hay meadow, and trying to use a scythe cutting 'hay' in the corner of a field full of Weeds. Then they took loose hay that had not been baled up to another farm on tha back of a trailor so it could be baled...(what!) . The kids all had fleeces on and the dad a heavy coat, yet Amanda had a skimpy vest on, and do me a favour - no one wears a mini skirt up the dales, especially not to serve up tea. Lol! Certainly, playing to the 'Dads' audience, that's fine and dandy but at least get the farming bits right!
LOL....lol.....Mrs sqad is impressed that my friend on AB is a neighbour of the Yorkshire family lol she is a Yorkshire girl and just loves it.
Not my bloody scene at all.
Well, I find it very odd that a shepherdess wears mini skirts, bare legs and full make up on such a busy farm !!
