I love period dramas, but apart from the clothes this was awful! So busy being "quirky" , I watched until the end to give it a chance but I couldn't have cared less about any of them or wondered what happened next. There's subtle "quirky" and completely over the top, this was the latter unfortunately:-(
On watching this episode I don’t think I’ll watch the rest. I never liked the Mitford either! Always thought they were so clever and superior. They were all mad apart from Diana.

she got very friendly with evelyn waugh - whose brideshead was post war ( portrayal of pre war lost world)
Did the mitfords realise there was a war on? Unity obviously did
The daughters were the subject of a 1981 musical, The Mitford Girls, by Caryl Brahms and Ned Sherrin, and of a song, "The Mitford Sisters", by Luke Haines.
I threw the towel in after 20 minutes. Not even the delightful Lily James - literally all fur coat and no knickers - could hold my attention any longer.
