.......of 'Before We Die'. Just finished the English version on All 4 and have to say i much preferred the original Swedish version, sub-titles and all. Both the mother and son in the Swedish version appeared a tad tougher than the two i've just watched. The villains were all a little more scary, too. Anyone agree, disagree?

Not one that I have watched but must say I enjoy the Swedish series that are being shown on iPlayer - The Bridge and The Killing to name but two. Much grittier than any English thrillers.
I agree Ken. The Swedish version I found powerful, gripping and a good watch. I gave the English version a go but didn't continue after the first episode. I couldn't believe in the characters and thought the script was dire. I hope - if other people felt the same - it doesn't put them off watching the original.
Not watched the Swedish version yet - where was it shown, Ken?

Very much enjoyed the UK version - one of the best cop dramas for a while.

The Swedish version was a Walter Presents offering, Dave, on All 4.
Whilst I don't think you could get much more than a fag-paper between the two versions, I thought Lesley Sharp (usually a consumate actress) was a little 'flat' in the part.

Walter Presents is the 'go-to' channel in the Hat-household. We have found some absolute gems there.

That's what i referred to, JTH, when i said both the Swedish son and mother came over as much tougher than the English versions. I think Leslie Sharp was slightly miscast. Also the Croatian matriarch was much more to the fore in the Swedish drama
And i regularly visit All 4's WP section to see if he's sneaked any new ones in when i haven't bee looking :-) There are only a handful i've started to watch and not seen them through to their conclusion for whatever reason.
We started off with the Scandiwegan programmes....then German, Spanish, Italian, Danish, Belgian, Dutch and Polish.

The only one we did stick with was the Spanish women's prison one....can't think what it was called.

Locked Up - very easy on the eye :-)
That's the one.... :o)

Given the dynamic in this household, you'd have thought that would also be the case, here, but we just couldn't involved in it. Perhaps we ought to give it another go.
I'm watching series 2 of the Swedish version at the moment.

Haven't watched all 5 seasons of Locked Up, Jack. If i remember rightly, it started to get a tad silly by the end of Season 3.
Well worth watching, Danny.
