Eurosport tv channel continually uses an image between ads of two pairs of swimmer's hands on the edge of a pool under starter's orders. & yes - you got it; one pair of hands is white, the other black - so 50/50. Except I can't seem to remember ever seeing one black competitive swimmer on that channel, or anywhere else for that matter, though I'm sure some exist, somewhere.

Why would real people in a real setting be unrealistic and woke?

The "woke" here is using minority actors in adverts to a completely disproportionate extent and it is happening now in ever-increasing degrees to the point that the majority (i.e. straight white people) is under-represented.

Let's at least get the figures right:

The 2011 census showed that, in England and Wales, 86% of the population were white, meaning (obviously) that 14% were non-white. That figures breaks down as follows:
7.5% Asian/Asian British
3.3% Black/African/Caribbean/Black British
1.0% Other ethnic group (including Arab, for example)
The remaining 2.2% were of mixed or multiple ethnicity.

So, from a purely statistical viewpoint, advertisers should be seeking to ensure that one in seven people portrayed in their commercials are non-white.

I's so called 'diversity' isn't it and we have to put up with it whether we like it or not ! You only had to watch the BAFTAs the other night to see how it is becoming prevalent in this country and despite getting many thousands of complaints for their political dance on a family entertainment show, the Banjo brothers won an award for it and boy were they smug when accepting the award, but then it WAS the BBC and nobody does 'woke' quite like the BBC !

Chris, that Census is 10 yrs old. Can we really take accurate figures from a Census when surely not everyone fills them in and also, how many illegal immigrants have come into this country in the last 10 years?
