Gary Holton, you mean. And he died from an overdose of morphine and alcohol, aged 32.
I've never seen that but like you saw there was nothing worth watching so plumped for an episode of Black Adder. Still laughing.
Seen it and lived it.
The first series of Auf Wiedersehen Pet was indeed a classic. It was, however, of it's time and when i watched a couple of episodes a few months back, it seemed very, very dated. In my most humble of opinions, of course.
I've been watching Brassed Off and enjoyed it as much as I did the first time many moons ago.
Ewan McGregor, Tara Fitzgerald, Pete Postlethwaite, Stephen Tompkinson and many more famous faces.
Jimmy Nail eszpecially, who got the role in spite of having no acting experience.

He turned out to be a true Renaissance Man, going on to write Spender in which he played a detective, and Crocodile Shoes where he co-wrote some Ivor Novello Award-winning songs as well as the scripts.
Wow another section virtually paraphrased from Wikipedia. And look..... Jimmy Nail's page was accessed 13 minutes ago. Not unusual given there are over 6 billion people in the world. But he hasn't been accessed for 17 and half hours, what a coincidence!!!

LOL. Rumbled again.

^^ LOL! He's a "music journalist", you know! :-)
Never watched it. Did I miss out then?
Really??? He's never mentioned it.
Hopkirk - // Never watched it. Did I miss out then? //

It does look a little dated now, but the scripts are sharp and the characters are warm and easy to like.

If you see it on a channel anywhere, it's worth checking out.
Strznge that Leon, I just checked Jimmy Nail's wiki page, and although all the information is there, that's hardly surprising given that it's exactly what you'd expect to find on Wiki. However, it also states his only Novello award was for Ain't No Doubt, and nothing for the Crocodile Shoes soundtrack.

So some of AH's post was wrong, and clearly not copied from Wikipedia.

If you're going to make up crap about someone to forward a silly vendetta, best to make sure you're not talking out of your backside first.
I'm not party to what the whole "insular infighting" is about, but its a shame that a genuine "tv" question and friendly replies has to be hi-jacked! Btw, I never watched AWP when it was shown and having seen some bits now,I would say it is definetely dated but interesting:-)
