Where Can I Find Old Apparel Catalogs?
1 Answers
The reason I'm asking this is because I like to collect old apparel magazines from the early 2000s from various companies such as Soft Surroundings, Garnet Hill, and beyond and look at their pictures. I've been trying to use the Wayback Machine website as well as other emulators in hopes of browsing their web pages in order to just get a couple of images of those I like a lot.
Needless to say, I don't know much about those emulators or Wayback Machine, and I can only access small parts of these sites here and there. I'm using Windows 10. To my knowledge Ebay and other websites are selling only today's magazines and not old ones terribly often. I've tried several websites but none of them have the old catalogs I liked. The old can't be lost for all eternity. There must be some way I can find the aforementioned catalogs for sale someplace, or at least find images from the catalogs, or whatever the case. Anything you can do to help me out here would be appreciated. I don't know what category this question is, but I'm guessing it has something to do with media.

The companies you've mentioned are American ones, suggesting that you're in the USA. This website is UK-based, so it's unlikely that anyone here will have ever seen a catalogue from Garnet Hill or Soft Surroundings (or, indeed, even have heard of those businesses). You might stand a better chance of getting a useful answer if you post on a US-based website,...

Old Sears catalogues turn up on eBay UK though (despite Sears being an American firm and largely unknown here in the UK), so I would expect similar items to be listed on eBay USA. Perhaps you need to be looking for catalogues where only a section of the contents is devoted to fashion, rather than solely for fashion-specific ones? (Spiegel? Montgomery Ward?).
It might also be worth contacting the Ephemera Society of America, as their members are likely to be aware of the best sources for old catalogues: https:/ /www.ep hemeras ociety. org/
I'm (obviously!) fumbling a bit in the dark here but I've just found an eBay USA link that seems to include several catalogues which might possibly be of interest to you, so I'll throw it into the mix:

Good luck with your hunt!
