unknown film title

I would like to know the title of a film from a few years back. It was an american war film involving a aircraft bombing crew. The captain had bailed out over the desert and had lived but the rest of the crew died, however they did not know they had died until the captain came back many years later looking for the plane. the ghosts all hated the captain as they thought he was a coward and he picks up on the bad vibes. Not all the crews bodies were in the same place as some had tried to walk out of the desert and as bodies were found the dead disappeared. I thought the captain might have been richard baseheart but can't find any thing relevant in his biblography. the film starts with them playing baseball and ends with one ghost on his own. any ideas
