I like watching foreign programmes because I'm slowly losing my hearing and they usually have subtitles. Why though with the aids of modern technology cannot subtitles automatically adjust to provide contrast to the background? Also have them sited lower down on the screen.

I can't understand why when subtitles are used they are not shown on a contrasting background i.e white print on a black bar or vice versa.

Hear hear. Sorry for the pun. And make the subtitles a little smaller. And bring them back on C4 please.
