Is this connected with The Larkins of the 50s, with David Kossof and Peggy Mount?
I don’t rate him as a straight actor.
I loved the old series.
I hope it’s as good as the original series, will give it a go.
Sometimes I enjoy things with Bradley Walsh in, sometimes he really annoys me.

I thought it might have been a follow up of the Darling Buds of May ?
Jackdaw, it’s a remake of The Darling Buds of May. It set Catherine Zeta Jones on her way, back in the 80s.
Ah, not the same show. The 1950s one was a weekly comdedy about a mild-mannered husband and his dragon of a wife.
Question Author
Ohh I remember that JD on radio, Peggy Mount would have turned milk sour :0))
Absolutely Bobbs. You wouldn't want to get into an argument with her.
I'd forgotten about those Larkins.
Question Author
Didn’t it later transgress to black n white tv?
Yes, in 1959 when Tyne Tees TV was first launched.
Question Author
Those were the days JD from the TTT studios on City Road :0))
I look forward to this. Near Kettering is a little village, Isham. The main road runs through Isham and there's a little general store on that road.
H.E.Bates was outside the store when a truck drew up and a man unloaded lots of children telling them to go inside and choose an ice cream.
Bates watched the goings on with interest and that planted the seed for The Darling Buds of May.
Question Author
Gness I didn’t watch it the first time round, one of my biggest regrets and I feel nos it would be so dated if I did
Question Author
*now*
Not so sure about seeming dated, Bobbi. It was set before the time in which we were watching it.
Anyway it's good, relaxing, get lost in bit of viewing when your brain's too frazzled for anything serious.... :-)
Question Author
Right, I will ( thanks)
Another is Downton Abbey , yet I love costume drama :0(((
Goodness, Bobbi! You're linking me to people I knew and with the name Bates.
Brendan Coyle who plays Bates in Downton and I grew up in the same town and went to the same school. He's younger than me but you'd not think so.... ;-)
His cousin, who's his double, was in my class all through school and I had quite a crush on him...unrequited sadly...x
Question Author
I caught up with it around series three and got hooked Gness
I remember the Larkins, Ada Larkin especially as she reminded me of a neigbour. I have vague memories of an episode when they went on holiday and there was no heating or water in the holiday cottage, can't remember anything more!
I never watched the first time round nor the Buds of May - but I will be watching on Sunday - cos I'm getting married to Bradley when he divorces - love him LOL
