I like this programme. The kids are just great, all pitch in and have their "jobs" to do from a very young age. Nothing is hidden from them - life and death is accepted. Amanda and Clive have hit a rough patch but what family hasn't gone through this at one time. Need to be left to sort their private lives out without interference.

I’m sure there was Mamya , this is my take on it tonight :0)
We stopped watching it when it became boring and obvious that much of it just didn't represent the reality and problems that real hill farmers have. Amanda really does have head screwed on when it comes to making money. A very shrewd lady. Clive seems an Ok guy.

Pat , I find it easy watching , I suppose it’s like our Little House on the Prairie, now I’ve gone to 1000 years a slave which is harrowing
Yes it's easy eat Hong Bobbie. But I've become disillusioned over the years. Little Clemmie obviously has a future in media.
Easy eat Hong!!!!!!!! I give up with bloomin predictive text. It sounds like a Chinese takeaway!! (Easy watching)

Haha , you make me smile
Yes she has , she’s a little star
Has there been any episodes broadcast without Amanda - when she is away from home on her tours?
Question Author
I don’t suppose there has Barry, after all it’s about Clive, her and their 9 children
Clive and the children don't go on tour with her, do they? The Yorkshire Farm carries on.
I think the episodes you are watching now were made before she went on tours. Presumably Clive and the children do the farm work now.
This is not a hobby farm. They farm nearly 2000 acres which is Tenanted from one of the large country estates that border the land. Clive is a seriousl farmer and renowned breeder of Swaledale Sheep. A couple of years ago one of his Swaledale Tups achieved over £20,000 at auction. That is the real bit......The rest is a mainly 'Disney-fied' life on the Farm making a good story for folks who want to forget about the busy world and pretend people really live like that -they don't. She hasn't been a proper 'farmer' for a few years now, just filming the stuff you see in the episodes then flitting off to do her promotional work, .

Stylists, nannies, script writers all descend on the Ravenseat for filming and I'm not surprised Clive has got sick as he did not buy into this -it started with a TV documentary which got out of hand when Amamda realised it was a vehicle to promote herself. He's been made to 'pretend' to do hay timing in March, along with other things that potentially have had the effect of making him look like a laughingstock in the local community. If this was a fictional series it would be wonderful escapism -a bit like 'all creatures great and small' but it pretends its real life, which for real farmers, and those that live in the area (like myself) it makes difficult viewing.

As for the split -well that's their 'private' life and no one knows what goes on being closed doors, unless Amanda can work it to her advantage. Just my personal opinions and observations of course.

^If you make your life into a television event (as this family has done), you can't pick and choose which bits are for public consumption and which bits are not...it's all fair game, imo.
Turning your life into a tv set is a choice - but it is not the life I'd choose for my children (the farm, yes. Not the tv)
Question Author
Can’t see what the fuss is personally , it’s got nothing to do with anyone if Amanda sees a way of making money by writing books or being on TV , her choice but at the end of it, she’s given birth to 9 very well adjusted children with great manners so both her and Clive have done that very right
What 'fuss' would that be then Bobbi? Can't see any 'fuss' or 'bother' on this thread. I class the programme like the UK version of 'The Waltons' easy viewing if a little too sugary for my tastes.

BTW you have no idea what her children are like in real life -for better or worse -you only see what you are guided into seeing on the screen. Understand that and you are half-way to understanding most of it is make believe :o)
