I started to watch it but had to stop. I am heavily involved with what is happening to a very dear friend with dementia at moment and the film was distressing me.
I watched this film some time ago. A.H. is a wonderful actor and played the part to perfection. Not a laugh out loud film though some very poignant moments.
I recently said on AB that I never forgive. Many years ago I was very ill for a long time. When I was well enough MrG treated me to one of my favourite plays, Antony and Cleopatra, at the RSC to celebrate me still being alive.
We were really hard up at the time so it was a lot of money for us to go to London for a show.
Hopkins played Antony and he was a mess. Performed the whole play with a tankard in his hand. Keeping topped up I guessed.
I did later learn that it was at a time when he was drinking and barely knew which way was was up.
I've never forgiven him for ruining the play for me so I've never watched him in anything since....I can hold a grudge.... :-)
I quite liked it. I like Antony Hopkins (sorry, gness) and Olivia Colman. Probably not too accurate- it came across as an eyesight problem at times. But, difficult to put yourself in that kind of position, without it obviously being from an "observer".
