but demonstrates that there is still good in the world.... an inspiration...
agreed.
I watched the first few minutes and stopped watching it.
I found it hard to watch and couldn't continue. I honestly don't think Derek will ever be 'normal' again. How hard it must be for them both.
Very sad.
bored with them both, too much tv and press exposure.
of course no one else has their problems !
lots of people quietly go about caring for relatives and having to do lots of personal intimate caring as she is for him. However, "the public" in general don't particularly care (why should they?) so those people who are carers probably appreciate someone in the public eye shining a light on how difficult it is when people have life altering experiences
I suggested on a thread some months ago that the ventilator should have been switched off.
Yes she is doing an amazing job but with an army of helpers which do not seem to be available to others in the same situation.

The documentary seem to be a repeat of the first documentary.

I tend to agree with piper 107 ......little old ladies of age looking after their husband without help or media coverage.
I can't empathise with Kate's wimpering, shrugging of the shoulders and the tilting of the head as an emotional ploy.

Sorry.
I didn’t watch this programme. His progress has been very well documented on the media. He is one of thousands who require caring from relatives every day.
hi sqad, i have to say i agree with you (in a cold, dispassionate nursey type way) that it may have been better to turn his ventilator off. It hardly seems likely he is going to have an amazing recovery and he will either stay the same or deteriorate.
she has him, but at the same time she no longer has "him"
This programme is helping to highlight the everyday struggle of those people caring for family members still suffering from having had Covid-19.
There are numerous people ,some with very serious complications needing daily care . On a tv programme earlier this week there was a man who had Covid-19 .He was paralysed from the waist down, heart ,kidney and lung problems. Hoisted into a wheelchair every day . Knowing that he doesn't have long left to live but determined to put a brave face on for the sake of his family.
There is a tendency with some people to dismiss Covid as being little more than a bout of 'flu but hundreds of people know differently. Top marks to the Kate Garroway TV programme for highlighting their plight .
I could only watch the first few minutes , when he held out his arms for his son I couldn’t watch for tears so I switched over
In the first few minutes. They said they give him a hard time. How bad is that. Horrible.
"They said they give him a hard time"
who gives who a hard time and who said it?
I not sure the programme was talking over the video. It was a lady who said it. I watched the first roughly 7 minutes of it.
I didn’t watch it, but read a follow up new article from her which started saying that Derek had carers 24-7, but then she was saying that she changes his sheets up to 7 times a night and that she tends to him every 2 hours, so I was getting baffled as to what the carers actually do?? And even if he has catheters etc etc or sweats, I could t see just why he would need his bedding changed that often? Unless I’ve missed something. Either way I just cannot see that after this length of time his situation will improve much more.
^^^ I read it as ''Kate gets up during the night to help the carer turn Derek over and that she often changes the sheets up to seven times during the day.
There certainly is a stark difference in how some people in the public eye deals with personal issues

Take the way Michael Schumacher's wife deals with his situation compared to Kate Garroway .

Hardly any information is known about Michael Schumacher's situation , post accident
That is a perfect example Bazile!

Andres - maybe I misread , but I still ended up thinking well surely the point of the carers was so that she didn’t have to do these things.
