Mastermind - How Many Times Can You Be On?
24 Answers
The blind woman with purple hair, 'Rachel Double-Barrelled' is back on for what must be the third time at least. How many times can you appear - or is this the Beeb desperate to have minorities on the show?
Really, if so, woke goes too far.

"Hamish Cameron and Ann Kelly have both appeared 5 times. Hamish also has an additional 3 semi final appearances, and you have to say that he was unlucky not to make the final in 2007. Hamish is one of a select band of contenders who have played in 3 semi finals - nobody so far has reached four semis."

I don't think there is a limit to the number of times you can appear. I don't know how the system works. I do know that Rachel is almost a professional quizzer! I've seen her for years - at least twice on 'Only Connect' and in various other places. Other people do the same. The first time I saw Mark 'The Beast' (Chaser) was in the 'Rugby Players' team on Only Connect. There was a bit of a fuss a few years ago when one of the Eggheads appeared for the 2nd time on 'Brain of Britain'.
I thought UC was only for undergraduates but reading the eligibility requirements I see that postgraduate entrants are permitted. That said (and I don't know if it's a recent innovation) but the current rules say:
"Team members and the reserve member must not have appeared in the televised version of the Programme for any university or university college on any previous occasion."

The reason that some of the contestants on this series of UC have finished their degrees (the captain of tonight's Reading team is now a teacher) is because the filming schedule was extended because of Covid restrictions.
I don't think people should be allowed multiple entries to the likes of Mastermind. For example, Fifteen-to-One had a rule that you you could only appear once - unless, of course, you won and would come back as 'the previous winner'.

She was a lead on the Manchester Univ Cack up team a few years ago. Anyone watching this evg - good wasnt it?
If anyone was confused by the Przewalski's Horse q ( oldest (=last) wildest horse NOT actively domesticated now promoted to earliest domesticated horse) - the Bot-tigh culture is "Botai"
She was also involved in 'how to win Univ Cack up' by coaching the newer Manchester team - taken very seriously as success is tied to number and quality of applicants in the following Oct
They crashed out in the first round

No yes
Univ cack up follows Mastermind and yes she was on mastermind and see above was previously on Uni Cack up ( and won I think)
Uni Cack comes up every three years so there should be no repeats AND the filming was so long that people got their degree half way thro and THAt caused trouble ( winner one year declared invalid)
AND matriculation ( must be within three years matric) was differently defined at OXbridge - one counted from the year you took A levels and the other the year you went 'up'
honestly someone asked.... I think
oh and old baggaz uni cack up - you cant ever have been previously on.
