Withnail and I is correct because the title is basically saying "Withnail and I......." - there is an implied action ie the ...... represent the things they do. So Withnail and I go to the pub for example. Whithnail and me went to the pub is wrong.

Anyway leaving aside the grammatical arguments the film is cult viewing, a bit of an acquired taste. I found it quite amusing.

It's a cult film, always popular with students.

With this kind of film, either you get it, in which case you understand the humour, and enjoy it, or you don;t get it, and its appeal feels like the emperor's new clothes - people say they like it because its cool to like it, so they feel they should say they like it, even if they don't.

I didn't get it, and have no interest in pretending that i did, so for me, it's not enjoyable, but others will say different.

I guess you will have to make up your own mind.

if the title was "From Withnail and me", that would be correct. Likewise if it started with to, beyond, over, or anything signalling that it wasn't a nominative, which is the default position. As things stand, though, it's in effect "Withnail and I are the subjects of ths film".

The film is funny, in a grimly 60s way, drinking, pervy sex, and ennui.

There are references to sex but no explicit "pervy sex" is depicted.

It resonated very much with me - living in a freezing student flat, having drinking bouts, driving an old banger, "holidaying" in a decrepit country cottage, attempts at cooking meals with the sparsest of ingredients.

Added to which it is perfectly cast, well acted & has some gloriously funny dialogue. I never attempted the drinking game. Their consumption was over a period of several days not 90 minutes.
