Just watched it and they seem to spend a lot of the episode going on about how evil the British Empire was. Why would that be?

Quite why anyone has any interest in what these two say or do is beyond me.

And to complain about the evils of the British Empire, while being main beneficiaries (Royals) of the Empire plundering foreign lands, shows a complete lack of empathy.
God knows. I've no idea what goes on in the minds of these two or what makes them say what they say.
Poor old "Haz" is brainwashed. Brainwashed people don't know they're brainwashed. They will often assert that they are unbiased and can judge for themselves, however you will find that whatever their brainwasher opines (in this case, the insufferable Meghan), the self-proclaimed "free thinker" will repeat by rote.

They're mixing with the wrong people.
The British Empire, like the curate's egg, was both good & bad in parts, but I fail to see what that has to do with these highly privileged millionaires who reside in California,
(& may they long stay there).
For the British Empire, the good part was the goods they plundered from the countries they invaded; the bad part (for the countries invaded) was the loss of goods stolen from them.
