This is the story of how Dave Fishwick - Burnley multi-millionaire and local hero - took on London's elite banking institutes in his attempt to open a small community bank in the town, and the end result.
Anyone who watched the Channel 4 docu series on Dave's struggle will probably wonder just how a film could be made from what is essentially an interesting, but quite boring, story. The answer is with lots and lots of cinematic licence and very little truth.
I watched it last night and right from the beginning i realised there would be loads more fiction than fact from the opening scenes.
All that aside, it is a heart-warming story, sometimes amusing, with some good acting from the principals and if that's what you look for in a film, i recommend it.
About two minutes before reading this, my missus was going on about this film and how she'd like to watch it .... although, being from Burnley makes us slightly biased :)
Ken, we absolutely loved this film! Watched it tonight. Rory Kinnear, is a good actor, perfect for this part.
It certainly has the feel good factor :-)
