Just watched this on catch up. Reminded me of their music from the eighties. I loved it at the time and still do no matter what the pretentious music industry thought of them. Just cheerful happy songs you can sing along to, no preaching, no political messages, just brilliant pop songs.

Put up an example ,then
Rick Astley Never Gonna Give you Up
In from the pub, half gassed, The Hitman And Her on the telly.

Happy days.
Watched it a couple of weeks ago, brought back great memories and nothing lifts the spirits like being Rick Rolled!!!
When I deliver my Cruise Talk on Motown Records, I refer to SAW, because in my view, they are the heirs to Holland-Dozier-Holland, and I play a clip of The Supremes singing Nathan Jones, which then blends into the Bananarama version, and explain how both sets of writer/producers found an identifiable formula, which they used with multiple artists to make a string of memorable hit singles.

Geniuses all six.
S.A.W were, quite literally, a pale imitation of Holland Dozier and Holland.
The latter had a depth and breadth that the former could only dream about and that would be on a very, very good day.
Douglas - I guess we must agree to differ on this.

Lamont Dozier was a personal friend of Pete Waterman, and a great admirer of the trio.
dunno about being better, it was a different era!
I never said SAW were 'better', only that they took the formula and ran with it.
I Should Be So Lucky/Bernadette, two sides of the same coin.

Behave now.
Douglas - Apples and oranges.

You can't realistically compare songs like those.

If I was born in the seventies, I probably wouldn't know the magic of Motown, and SAW would sound wonderful.

I am lucky enough to adore one and admire the other.
Almost 100% drivel
Andy, Andy, Andy, perlease!
Perleese what?
Stop aitken and waterman
I have no idea what you are talking about.
Ah well
Oh hang on, it's a pun on the name!!

Oh let me hold my aching sides, they may split!!
I should be so lucky.
