I think an early episode of EastEnders, might have been the first one, featured a suspicious death. I believe now the soaps are awash with the blood of murder victims. Is this a reflection of the violent times we live in, or a good way to attract more viewers?

Humanity does take a heightened interest in murder, as is proven in its constant use as a plot device in fiction, and a subject for serious documentaries and non-fiction writing.
