In the BBT episode, "The Raiders Minimisation" (S07E04) Amy points out that Indiana Jones has no bearing on the outcome of ROTLA. The boys then try an dprove her wrong only to prove her right. So your turn, can you state anything that IJ does in the film that has any bearing on the outcome? Do not answer just to troll. Thanks.

failure is Indy's stock in trade, and a big part of his appeal. He doesn't get the Crystal Skull, he doesn't get the Holy Grail; he gets one of the Sankara stones but returns it to its owners. He does however have an opportunity to destroy the Ark but passes on it, thus leaving it to melt a lot of Nazis.

Next week: how come Bogart doesn't get the treasure of the Sierra Madre or the Maltese Falcon?

I don't recall films in such detail to even start finding such a thing. Heck, I'm lucky to recall the basic thrust of such stories.

The objects sought in these films are Mcguffins - "an object or device in a film or a book which serves merely as a trigger for the plot". The real plot is good v evil. Good usually wins.

Yes but that's the point Lanks, they loved the film so much that they looked no further. Only once they also analyse it do they realise that Indy has no bearing on the outcome!
