One question has caused controversy on Twitter. "What is the first letter in the alphabet that doesn't rhyme with another?"
I got it right - F, but people are claiming that it rhymes with S and X. Not to my ears it doesn't. Thoughts?
I’ve just asked himself and he says no, it doesn’t rhyme with s or x, whereas I think it does rhyme with s but not x.
Question Author
Thank you, Vagus.
No. S F and X are assonances but not rhymes.
Not to me either.
Question Author
They sound very different to me
I said 'F' - no, it doesn't rhyme with anything else.
No F does not thyme with S or X.
A rhyme is a similar sounding end of a word.
So they may share a similar beginning sound, ef es ex, they don’t have a similar sounding end like ay jay.
The letter "I" can also rhyme with "J" depending where you're from.

I think that any questions or clues based upon sounds can be dodgy because accents mean they might not produce the expected results.

Good point, Corby
I have never heard i and j sounding similar at the end?

To me they sound hi and jay.
12.23 Funny thing Gromit ...if I recite the alphabet, I pronounce J as
Jai but, if I have need to use the phonetic alphabet. I pronounce J as Jay for Juliet.
Yes, easier, got the 1% qn right!
