And Wembley came alive with that icon set from Queen with Freddie in his pomp. The world of pop music came together and raised approximately £150 million. Didn't realise it was that long ago

Cheers TTT . The other stand out performance for me was Elton John and George Michael singing Don't Let The Sun Go Down on Me
It was just one of many highlights of the greatest of all decades for me.
I drove 100 mi to Bham to do the brum run
t-shirt wasnt much good - black world with a minute red flame in the lower corner

250 000 in Perry Bar. covered a huge area - as far as the eye cd see stuff.

( then got in the car and drove back)
Kicked off with Rocking all over the world. How appropriate! Lovely day!
We were walking around London on that day and could hear all the music. It was great to be there. Later we saw Concorde going to the USA ( Philadelphia?). With I think Phil Collins on board to perform there
Queen were a spent force as a band after they’d tried to go more synth-pop and alienated most of their audience, including me. Live Aid was a catalyst to rejuvenate their career.
I'd been a big fan of Queen in the 70s but lost interest after the day at the races album.

However, I still expected they'd do a fantastic set and steal the show. I was so pleased when they did.

I would hesitate to call them a 'spent force' at the time of Live Aid.

Admittedly, some of their recorded work was a tad too progressive even for their own fans, but they were still one of the biggest concert draws in the world.

Contrary to the impression given in the Bohemian Rhapsody fim, they had just returned from a massive tour in (I think) Australia and Asia, and were match fit for the Live Aid show, not sluggish and under-prepared as the film implied.
Thanks, Andy.
Yes they had just finished their 'Works' tour but still had to go out 'Raw' without their own crew etc. They were the most rehearsed band for the event.

They're so many inconsistencies' with the film Bohemian Rhapsody It's not up their top notch although Rami Malik and co were excellent the story is not that factual.
As a fan of the band since '73, i've always preferred their more progressive work, Andy. And i know quite a few other Queen fans who think the same way.
I certainly prefer their prog rock work to some of their lighter efforts. Not to mention one of their most ridiculous works - Flash! Why, guys, why?

Arky, true and yet May and Taylor were the sources for the film's storyline.
I know Ken, and they had to keep changing it, to make the movie.
I think 'poetic licence' comes into play with the film.

As far as Live Aid, everyone went on without their own crew support, and their various whizbangs that made their shows unique.

What impresses me about Queen was how, as well as being without their unusual comfort blankets of support, dressed down completely, and still nailed the entire day in less than twenty minutes.

Class!
Quo were pretty good as well though!
I bought the DVD but I’ve never played it…yet, that was one helluva show and the great unwashed Bob Geldorf swearing his way through his begging bowl :0)
There's a great documentary about Live aid called Live Aid: Against all odds. I have the original recordings of many of the artists who performed that day. I had a DVD bought for me from America but it stated 'Not available for your region' which was a shame.
