The Skeleton Key was good - not very gory but quite scary.

Comedy/horror - Shaun of the Dead is brilliant

ring is not so much scary as creepy. it gets to you in the hours and weeks after seeing it

Not particularly scary as such, but thought SAW was superb,SAW 2 isn't bad either - if its something to make you jump you're after, a couple Ive seen recently did the trick - "The Grudge" (Although it had mixed reviews) and a film called Dead Birds - almost had to sleep with the lights on :-)

Oh yes - The Grudge is absolutely terrifying! I had to keep switching it off!

Audition is a fab film - very strange and very creepy

Dont listen to these guys i consider myself to be a bit of an authority (head now swells) and horror nutter, if you want a really good scare and plenty of heart pounding moments the very underated TOOLBOX MURDERS is superb.
i thought 13 ghosts was pretty scary

Reeeeeaaaally scary horror movies - i agree with previous posts, Saw was pretty good, and the Grudge/Ring too, although apparently the original japanese versions were far scarier. Personally, i loved The Descent and House on Haunted Hill.

The best comedy film i've seen recently is Team America: World Police, absolutely hilarious and deliciously unPC. Shaun of the Dead is also vg, or you could go with Channel 4's number 1 comedy film, Monty Python's Life of Brian.

For me a scary movie has to have a good storyline and even better if it has a bit of a twist to it. I thought 'What lies beneath' with Michelle Pfeiffer and Harrison Ford was excellent and I agree that Saw also was really good as it had a storyline to it with such an excellent ending.

My funniest film ever has got to be 'Just Married' with Brittany Murphy and Ashton Kutcher. I was almost vomiting because I laughed so much.

I do also love 'Deuce Bigalow, Male Gigolo' and the drivethru chinese fooooood scene from 'Dude where's my car'

My advice for good recently released (hopefully in UK) horror and comedy are "High Tension" and "40 year old virgin"
