Almost at the end, a door in a factory / scientific place was opened and what was going on inside gave a completely different slant to the film.

Set in the future where people eat processed food in pills of different color: red, blue etc, but their favorite is Green.

Charlton Heston breaks into the factory and find the green tablets are made out of dead people.

KebabMeister: I did consider Logan's Run, but they get out of the city some way before the end (I think, it's been a while since I saw it). In THX, they are all working in an underground complex and kept quiet by drugs. THX1138 stops taking the meds and eventually escapes to the surface after the chase for him is aborted as too expensive.

Trying to think of something more 80s since it's supposed to be around 20 years ago.

I recall that 2? men? were waking along a corrido (out towards the open?) and one opened a door on the right.

Inside were people engaged in some activity or other; suddenly all became clear.

A striking conclusion to the film; pity I didn't note the name!

How about 'Capricorn One' about the supposed landings on the moon...

Or 'Coma' where they discovered a hosital are causing/farming coma victims for organ sale.

Can you remember what the theme of the film was?
