Alan Smithee.
Alan Smithee was used a lot . There was even a film called this and it was so bad the director had his name taken off the credits. (was this a publicity stunt maybe?)

Just looked at the IMDb and a bit of trivia was.....

After Arthur Hiller had his credit changed to Alan Smithee, the Director's Guild of America unregistered the name Alan Smithee, therefore this film is the last film to ever bear that pseudonymn.

It was called "An Alan Smithee film. Burn Hollywood Burn".
