In episode 2 after the masked dance one of the courtiers says: "...Their astonishment was complete your majesty, no other prince in Europe could have carried off such a subterfuge" - This is not the only place, it happened in S1 too a few times.  Why was the King referred to as a Prince? It seemed like something normal, no one acted like it was wrong. Was it normal at the time?

Shakespeare uses it quite often, there was a broader meaning to 'Prince' then.

cheers pasta that makes sense, never heard of that before.

Are you enjoying it, TTT?  I started watching it only recently after someone in here spoke about it.  I think it's excellent.  I've watched all series 1 and about to watch episode 2 of the second series.

Yes, I first watched season one to get up to date, I didn't watch it when it was on initially. It seems historically accurate for the most part so yes I am enjoying it though I can't help thinking that the kid out of "about a boy" is wrong for Rafe but maybe that's just a bit of type casting bias on my part.

I didn't watch it when it was first shown either.    I think I thought it would be a bit of a kitchen sink drama - and I do hate it when writers turn history into that sort of thing and we get modern day dialogue peppering the scripts.  I'm pretty sure Henry VIII would never have said things like  'As if!'  As if!  😂

I seem to have got the wrong end of the stick over this programme.

For some reason I thought it was another in the bonkfest genre of recent years but having caught the tail end of an episode where a young nun was dissing Cromwell I may have been wrong.

Or am I? Off to iPlayer to check it all out.

You were wrong, Douglas.  It's superb... in my opinion.

Thanks for BA TTT. I had the meaning rattling in the back of my head...just checked online to be sure.

I've not seen the the series...I know I should watch it. It looks visually glorious.
