The scene is a small cafe in the mountains in war time occupied crete. The sign is 3 letters in Greek:

Capitals: Phi, Iota, Xi  (FIX ??)

set in 1944, any ideas what that would mean? I am familiar with the greek alphabet though not familiar with the word. Thanks
