bullying on BB?

Is anyone else outraged at the way Jodie Marsh was singled out? I really feel for her. I only watch the live courage as I am normally busy when the show is on but I cant understand why anyone would prefer Pete byrnes to be in instead of her.

I think this just goes to show that bullies are everywhere, I hope Jodie can become a stronger person for this experience. I was never a fan of her but I cannot help but empathise with her. She obviously needs a lot of reassurance, and they picked up on this like a pack of hyenas looking for the weak kill.

though I dont condone bullying, I dont think that Jodie did herself any favours in the house. She says that everyone portrays her as a slapper etc, well she certainly confirmed those suspisions.

There needs to be more people like peter, where people are not scared to speak their minds. Though he and others were quite harsh to jodie, i do admire him for his honesty.

I completely agree with you Goodsoluette. Although not a particular fan of Jodie�s I feel that she was treated horribly by certain housemates. Watching Michael Barrymore shouting at her last night and a few nights ago was such uncomfortable viewing but it struck me that nobody told him to stop or got involved and when she eventually got teary (as most people would in this situation) others took the view of �here come the waterworks, you know just how to play it�, no matter what way she reacted it she was seen as being manipulative.

What I fine more outrageous is Davina�s unprofessional attitude when interviewing contestants, she should remain impartial at all times and not make her personal feelings on the individuals clear to the audience.

I think that honesty is often used as an excuse for someone being rude. Pete has made many comments on Jodie and his opinion was quite clear but not often asked for, I could slag people off left, right and centre giving my honest opinion (requested or not) and excuse it just being honest.

I'm not outraged. Having been bullied remorselessly as a teenager, I save my pity for victims of bullying who don't have the opportunity to walk away from their tormentors, do not have a psychologist on hand to discuss issues that may occur during the course of a difficult day, and are not promoting their careers and lining their pockets while enduring a short period of discomfort in their lives that they know will end at a given time.
True victims feel the oppression is never ending and they have no escape.
Big Brother does however show 'celebrities' to be just as petty minded, dull and irritating as 'ordinary' folk and it's amazing we all still think they're somehow special and worthy of respect. (Apologies for the pun.)

Bullying is upsetting to anyone famous or not. I feel for anyone who has been bullied but if we actually sit up and say no thats not right and these idiots had to answer for their actions esp Pete and Barrymore, then maybe it would give children (and adults) a little bit of hope that its not right.

They should be made an example of,

I never liked her that much, but yes she was bullied. Barrymore is an A******e and he has to go. Pete speaks his mind but what a freak show. Why the younger boys never stood up and helped her what whimps...

I beg to differ Goodsoulette. What you see on Big Brother is not really bullying. It is more like poor quality, improvised drama because everyone enters into a situation and is expected to perform towards the agreed ending; one winner after a set period of time.

Bullying occurs when outcomes and timescales are unknown, when authority figures are in ignorance, or choose to turn a blind eye to the bullying and when an individual lives in fear, if they attempt to solve their own problems by seeking help. These factors are clearly not the case in the Big Brother house.

All the contestants are advised beforehand what is likely to appeal to the public and unfortunately, the public like humiliation and conflict. The public are as much to blame as the contestants who have been prepped in advance about the expectations of the programmes sponsors.

School is real life. Big Brother is a fabricated experience where people are expected to perform to cameras and not just live their ordinary life.

Ask any child who has had television cameras in their school and they will tell you how the behaviour of certain children becomes more extreme. The loud get louder, the extroverts all show off and the shy try and disappear and dread being asked a question.

Big Brother is just a performance that sells.

In response to the last comment, Jodie Marsh going into the Big Brother house was her doing a job - would you say to someone bullied in a workplace that because they were getting paid to be there they couldn't complain as they too could walk out whenever they wanted?

I've never liked Jodie - never disliked her either - and I think her sexual behaviour and comments didn't help her 'slapper' label. However, I have never seen anyone talk at someone as much as many did to her in there. Barrymore constantly interrupting her, refusing to let her speak, was excruiating to watch and made me feel so sorry for her. Dennis Rodman talks about sex as much as she did and was all over her at times but they never had a go at him for it. Barrymore cries more than a teething baby and no-one accuses him of putting it on for the cameras. I know she agreed to go in there and she was getting paid for it but she didn't sign up for being treated in such an appalling manner.

Her fee - she intimated-before going into the house was to go to the BeatBullying campaign of which she supports wholeheartedly.

Barrymores rage last night was frightening and I suspect other inmates are intimidated by him and GG.I would have lamped him and taken the consequences.

I feel for her - I dont think her behaviour in the house justified this vitriolic behaviour.They all have skeletons in their closet for Gods sake why pick on her.She was never nasty to anyone.

How silly of me, there I was thinking Jodie marsh was a fashion / glamour model. I should have realised that part of the job description was to appear on a banal T.V show along with a set of misfits and has-beens. Quite what that has to do with modelling I dont know. She isnt an entertainer and should stick to modelling. The reason most people watch this kind of show is a morbid desire to feed off the weaknesses and frailties of the participants, unless of course they happen to like one of them.

Jodie Marsh is a talentless attention-seeker. The fact that she volunteered to place herself on 'Celebrity' BB in the hope of furthering her 'career' and showing the 'real Jodie' is irrelevant. Even if the other house members found her obnoxious and crude (she would wind me up) that's no excuse for the way Barrymore, Burns and Galloway have treated her. Their hypocrisy is unbelievable.

It seems that they were pretty much guilty of everything that they accused her of: attention-seeking, trying to 'split the group', cruelty, failing to listen to anyone else. The way that they sat around and congratulated each other afterwards is sickening.

I predict that, now that she's gone, they'll turn, to some extent, on each other. I can't imagine the other older people putting up with Burns' tantrums now that they don't all have a common enemy.

Big brother is a job for them and everyone deserves to be allowed to do their job without being victimised. do you think it says in her contract "you will be bullied remorselessly, called names and generally made the scapegoat" ???

drusilla - the fact that you have been bullied yourself should make you know better than anyone how terrible and soul destroying it can be - to be singled out over everyone else and subjected to constant abuse, nit-picking and cruelty - and feeling helpless, unhappy and hurt - you think getting paid will make all that go away? cushion the blow, yes, but bullying can have long lasting effect - you know this, don't you...

Jodie wasn't bullied... she's a born victim and thrives off being "picked on".

Everything she goes on about relates to it... The jordan comments, the way the press treats her and now being bullie din the house... has anyone ever stopped to wonder why?
