My Best Friends Wedding
'Shallow Grave' which is a moral tale about how deeply unpleasant three deeply unpleasant people can really be when there is something in it for them - as the final scene played, i actually said "Yes!" out loud in the cinema, much to the embarassment of my guest for the evening. I still smile when I hear Andy Williams singing 'It's My Happy Heart'. Black comedy at its blackest, and funniest.
Of course The Usual Suspects must come close
The Searchers - John Wayne framed in that doorway, then turning and walking out into the desert. Classic.
I'd go for Casablanca, Thelma and Louise, Carrie and Three Days of the Condor (a vastly under-rated film all round). It's interesting that the best endings aren't always the best movies.
After sitting thru AI and wishing i were dead for three hours, the end of that was a blessed relief. Seriously tho, the life of Brian, glorious end scene.
I'd have to say The Graduate starring Dustin Hoffman, (Ben and Elaine escaping together on the back seat of the bus, after locking Elaine's wedding guests inside the church), because it doesn't matter how many sitcoms recreate it, it's always instantly recognisable. Could watch it a thousand times!
It has to be the end of Shaw Shank Redemption, when Red gets released from prison and goes to look for Andy.
Pulp Fiction, in the cafe.
i actually thought signs was gud at the end. not the direct end tho so duz it count? but it was the only film wer i actually thought the main characters wud die. i mean usually it's 'oh, they cant die,' but i thought they would! so it came as a surprise when they didn't!
Get Shorty - when the final scene of getting the money from the airport left luggage locker under the eyes of the Police turns into the movie being made of the very story we've been watching for the last 90 mins.

And I'll go along with dixcee about The Searchers. That'll be the Day !!!
Raiders of the Lost Ark, where you realise everything Indy has just been through has already happened a thousand times.
carrie............when the hand reaches out of the grave........blimey, wasn`t expecting that!
Good question, I like. There are probably several films that fall onto this category for me, a few already mentioned. For the shock value ending I think Seven is up there. Or, if it's the topsy turvey ending you want you should try Momento, both incidently, David Fincher films.
I agre with nearly all of the previous answers but what about Evil Dead 2 when he realise he gone back in time
Pretty obvious, given my username.....Donnie Darko's final scene is a gobsmacking revelation (or is it) to the movie's teasing questions about life/reality/destiny etc....Don't miss it !!!!!
Because I'm a hopeless romantic, it would have to be the final scene in Sleepless in Seattle, where Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan finally find each other, and walk off hand in hand, to live happily ever after - aaaahhhh!
"Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn!"

'Hang on lads, I've got an idea....erm....' The Italian Job
As all the one's i'd have picked are gone how about Life of Brian for the sing a long. It's hard to beat a bit of always look on the bright side of life
