Back in the 80's there was an early Saturday morning show which in it's opening title had a song which went 'California Highways, you're taking me back home, back to where I belong... down from San Francisco...' That's all I remember of it, except I think there was a scene where a group of teenagers are riding along in an open top car playing the guitar... Anyone got any ideas at all what it was called as it's been driving me nuts for years?
Thanks for the above answers, I think it was California Fever... I'll I've gotta do now is try and find a video/dvd of the show - until I hear the song I won't know for definite!
I can also remember that programme. It was on Central ITV after 'The Britvic 55 Survival of the fittest' during the summer holidays.
I managed to find a TV listing for it on 31 July 1986 11:00am. You're also right about the theme tune. There was also a lyric that went "....too many city lights, too many busy roads...."
Any other comments or advice about where I can find the theme tune would put 25years of searching to rest!!!
Yes I remember it also, used to watch it in 1987 in the UK. It was called 'California Highway' had 3 BMW 5 Series cars driving in convoy showing various tourist spots & places of interest in California. Was very interesting, Lee van Cleef was in the opening credits saying 'California has it all'. Remember the theme song also. There seems to be no info on this series, nor is it on IMDB.com. I believe it was a German production, but English speaking.

I too would love to hear that tune again, and see the show again. I've been searching for it since I first saw it as a little boy. Has anyone got any further in hunting it down?
