Dinos dad,

can anyone tell me who he is it or is it the same man who sung vindaloo.... we have seen him in something but cant work out what it is he has been in

If it's Keith Allen (I never watch Eastenders), he has contributed to many aspects of the British art scene. But Allen's film roles have tended to be on the periphery; important but never the lead. In Shallow Grave (1994) he was the soon-deceased tenant; in Trainspotting (1996) he was the silent drug dealer; and in FilmFour's Blue Juice (1995) he lurked in the background of his character's recording studios.

More recently, he cropped up in his brother Kevin's directoral debut Twin Town (1997) and co-starred in the gangster flick Rancid Aluminium. He has recently appeared in Alejandro Amenbar's supernatural thriller The Others (2001) and 24 Hour Party People (2002)


Keith Allen is one third (alongside Damian Hirst and Alex James) of novelty pop band Fat Les, which provided Vindaloo, the England football team's official anthem for Euro 2000, so you would have seen him in the video of that song. He was also recently a gynaecologist in Bodies on TV.

It's Phil Daniels, voice-over of Blur's Parklife, lead role as Jimmy in the film of Quadrophenia, RSC member, nasty piece of work Stripey in Scum, voice over in loads of ads, and general good egg. He will, or course, be sticking around.

I was going to say he was in Quadrophenia - what a great film that was!! Did i hear David Essex was coming to Eastenders too??

Yes its Phil Daniels a good ole british actor. As for david essex he was supposed to play dinos character dad but had to pull out, hence Phil Daniels instead.

I don't watch eastenders either, but I know that both phil daniels AND david essex were down to appear in it, so I don't think phil daniels is filling the now vacant david essex role.

I think David Essex was going to play Honey's dad as a guest role, but the part was expanded and he wasn't able to commit for any length of time.
