Now, every permutation of famous TV stars doing something else is creeping out of the woodwork. What next - Julian Clary tries spot welding? Davina mcCall tries not to shout at people? Well, let's keep it within the realsm of possibility!
Dr. Johnson was right (paraphrased slightly) - Penny Smtih singing is like a dog walking on its hind legs, it is not that it is done badly, rather that one is surprised to see it done at all.
Maybe the programme planners should think about that - and stop this barrel-scraping right now!
i was watching it tonight, and nearly fell off my chair when i asked "not many adverts are there- makes a change" to my husband, only to have him reply "it's on bbc1"
poor production values, rushing to squeeze stuff in, blatent mark-rigging (ie vernon saying, despite lulu clearly saying 3, what she actually meant was 4), pennys votes coming up before the judges had already even said them on the leaderboard, technicians heads bobbing in and out of shot, score screens that dont work, so called "professionals" having hissy fits and worst of all, nicky campbell getting the top marks for the night (how????).
Also how is lulu an "expert"? i only know 2 songs that shes sung shout and relight my fire (the first of which must have been 40 years ago, the second must be over 10 years ago) expert???? dont make me laugh
What are doing? I dont think you know what day it is do you?
What a waste of such a beautiful voice.
Martin Fry - are things that bad? - say it aint so?
You were once my hero - where did it all go wrong?
Did i see Jocelyn Brown somewhere aswell ?
( i must add i havent actually seen this programme - it would hurt too much)
I totally agree. Morbid curiosity forced me to watch some of it last night. It was like watching karaoke in my local. As for the presenters, they are good but have become moulded into the producers version of what supposedly appeals to the viewing public. Are we all seen as brainless, superficial morons then?
Why oh why do we get the 'singers' interviewed by Tess THEN they go through it all again with Vernon in a different room? Love the play on words there; 'Just the Two of Us" is clearly aimed at promotin T and V as a presenter couple. Penny was not remotely funny either.
